The belief that certain health problems are the result of a “health trap” is a serious problem. The belief that it is simply a result of poor lifestyle choices, poor nutrition, excess stress, and/or a tendency to worry is a problem.
There’s a lot of truth in both of these beliefs, but the second is a bit more controversial. We’ve all been told that the only way to lose weight is to eat better or exercise less. This is not a new idea, but it’s been a popular one that’s been around for years.
The belief that you can lose weight simply by eating better is a health trap. We’ve been told this for years but we’ve also been told that our body is designed to heal itself from the damage we’ve done. It’s an incredibly difficult concept to accept, but the simple truth is that if you don’t believe you can heal yourself you are setting yourself up for chronic illness.
Its important to remember that this belief that you can lose weight automatically is a very, very old idea. In fact, it was one of the first things people discovered when they first started losing weight. It is now also one of the most popular ideas that I get asked about, but I’ve yet to find a person who completely believes it.
They’re wrong. I’ve been fighting this belief for years, and in fact, it actually started out before I was even born. I’ve experienced it myself. And I was once the most likely candidate for a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.
Well, that’s a bad title. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are not the same thing. Type 1 is the same thing as type 2, but they actually come in two different forms. Type 1 is when you begin losing cells and insulin resistance. Type 2 is when your body is unable to produce enough insulin to properly regulate blood sugar.
Its true, Ive experienced it myself and it is a major health risk. Ive also experienced Ive been in and out of the hospital for it. So its not a matter of “if”, it is a matter of “when.” Of course, I can make excuses for it too. I was once the most likely candidate for a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes and my mother was actually pretty convinced it was hereditary and she would not have me tested.
Type 2 diabetes is a health risk because it causes insulin resistance (the body cannot properly use the insulin your body produces). Insulin resistance leads to high blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels get high, the body cannot properly regulate its own blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes is a major health risk because it is one of the leading causes of heart disease and diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a major health risk because it is the most common form, accounting for 90% of all diabetes cases.

The problem is that the scientific data on type 2 diabetes is not consistent enough to make a lot of people confident that the health risks from diabetes outweigh the health risks from smoking, drinking, and other risk factors for diabetes. In fact, there is increasing evidence that diabetes may be just as dangerous as smoking or drinking.
