One of the most important things to remember when doing any design project is that we shouldn’t just treat something we design as a solid block of a certain type. Instead, we should look at it as “part of a larger structure” or “part of a bigger project.” By thinking of it as “part of a bigger structure” we can avoid the common mistakes people make, like not thinking of it as a solid block of a certain type.
When we do look at the design phase of a project we should look at the elements of that thing inside the structure. A topology is a structure that has a number of elements that look like they have a substance, but are not solid. This is especially important when the design is a big project, since what we design is like a box of cardboard.
The topologies of a project can be broken down into many different types. We have the solid topology, which is solid enough to be useful, and the hollow topology, which is hollow enough to be useful, but not so hollow that it will collapse in on itself if you try to pull it out of the box. We have the flat topology, which is basically the same as the hollow topology, only it’s a 3D model instead of a 2D model.
The flat topology is easy. It’s just a 2D model of a 3D model, so it’s really easy to convert to 2D. The hollow topology has a lot of potential though, because it can be made into a 3D object. The reason it can be used as a 3D object is that the hollow topology isn’t actually hollow, but it contains a 3D part that is hollow.
