The word “obesity” is a tricky one. Obesity has many definitions, but in the end, it refers to a person’s excess weight. A person that is obese has a bigger stomach and a bigger body fat percentage than someone who is underweight. The idea is that our bodies have a limited number of calories, so fat is more metabolically efficient, so fat is better for us.
The World Health Organization considers obesity a public health crisis. The WHO says that over the next several decades, about three billion people will be obese, and that obesity will claim one-third of the worlds adult population. That means that about one in four adults will be obese, or just under twenty percent of the population.
For people who have been working in the nutrition industry for a while, this is an obvious fact. Obesity is a very serious issue, and the WHO recently issued a warning that it is a growing problem. But what is not clear is how the WHO defines obesity. The CDC has been trying to work this out with health care providers, and it doesn’t appear to be coming to any resolution.
Its unclear whether obesity is an actual medical condition, or a state of being. There are a number of theories on the matter, but the consensus is that obesity is not classified as a disease by the World Health Organization, but rather a state of being rather than a medical condition. So what does this mean for you? For those of you who want to know what to do about the problem, this is a good place to start.
One of the most common questions we get when we are talking about health issues is, “What should I do?” If you have a health problem, it is helpful to talk to someone in the health care field. It is also helpful to talk to your doctor, or more specifically a dietician. There are a lot of things they can suggest to you, but some of the things they would recommend are that you eat less, exercise more, get plenty of sleep, and get plenty of exercise.
While the above suggestions are all good in the short-term, there is a bigger issue here. Much of the time, we are too busy with our daily lives to think about what we need to do. We’re so busy because it’s so easy to eat and drink and enjoy the life that we’ve built, and we are so busy that we don’t think about what we need to do, because we are distracted by our lives.
As a result, we are often not aware of the danger of what we are doing. In fact, many of us would probably die of obesity, had we not been so busy with our lives. It’s time to wake up. We need to become aware of how often we are making decisions that will hurt us and the lives of others.
You see, we’re all pretty busy these days. We don’t have time to think about what we need to do. We just do it, and then when it’s time to go to bed we do what we need to do, and then when we wake up we go about our business. A common refrain is that we need to make more time for ourselves. I disagree with this. Time is something we can spend.
The problem is that we’re spending too much time on things that have no consequences. We’re spending our time on things that don’t help us grow. We’re spending our time on things that don’t help us get what we want. We’re spending our time on things that dont help us save the world or improve life on this planet.
The problem is that we are spending our time on things that just don’t matter anymore. Things like TV. Things like working out. Things like social media. Things like buying groceries. Things like going to movies. Things like going out for drinks. Things like going to concerts. Things like going on vacations. Things like hanging out with friends.
